Safer Internet Day NZ

Every Space a Safe Space

Safer Internet Day (SID) NZ

Safer Internet Day is a global event that takes place annually in February to promote collaborative efforts to build a safer online world. This year is particularly special as its the 20th anniversary of the observance.

Netsafe is the proud host of New Zealand’s Safer Internet Day. On Tuesday 7th February we will join over 50 nations worldwide to encourage and promote better online experiences.

Netsafe is an independent non-profit organisation supporting people in Aotearoa to have safe and positive online experiences. We keep people of all ages safe online by providing free support, advice and education.

Show Your Support #SID2023

Supporting Safer Internet Day means you’re joining the world’s biggest annual campaign to make the internet a safer place.

Netsafe has developed a range of resources to help supporters. You will find key messages, social media imagery and posters you can use freely.

Some supporters choose to share Netsafe’s Safer Internet Day material in internal communications, others use social media channels to post key advice and announce they are proudly supporting the campaign. Some organisations arrange events for staff or facilitate discussions around online safety in meetings, newsletters or intranet forums.

It’s an excellent opportunity to reinforce the importance of being good digital citizens, and to highlight what to do if something goes wrong online.
